2026 Journal Stack
11 Mar 2026 19:15I meant to post this at the first of January, but because I didn't put it on my planner, it didn't get done. So here we are.
I started doing subscription boxes last year and like a gas expanding to fill its container, the addition of more notebooks in my life caused me to start using more notebooks. I put the really pretty ones aside as gifts, but I've been using the rest.
First up, the planners I have been using for years:
Then we come to the new ones as of this year, although I started some of them before January 1.
There you have it!
Anyone else have a large planner stack this year?
I started doing subscription boxes last year and like a gas expanding to fill its container, the addition of more notebooks in my life caused me to start using more notebooks. I put the really pretty ones aside as gifts, but I've been using the rest.
First up, the planners I have been using for years:
- EC Life Planner - my work planner. I've been using this for seven years at this point.
- Leuchtturm1917 A5 dot grid - my bullet journal workhorse. While I haven't used this exact notebook the whole time, I've been bullet journaling for nine years at this point. I use this for my personal life, as both a planner and a record/tracker.
Then we come to the new ones as of this year, although I started some of them before January 1.
- Archer & Olive A4 dot grid - memory keeping journal. I paste ephemera in here along with stickers that suit my fancy. I write down reflections and more extended records than what is in my bujo. I draw a monthly calendar at the beginning of each month and write things down as they occur to me. There's no set schedule of entries.
- Archer & Olive travelers notebook - this is a bit of a butler's book for my house. I have lists of repairs, contractors, expenses, and schedules.
- Archer & Olive B6 dot grid notebook - this is my workout/physical therapy/recovery notebook. I'm using this to keep track of my recovery from breaking my leg last winter. I'm slowly getting back to where I was and this notebook gives me a track of my progress.
- Archer & Olive 8x8 dot grid - home to my reading journal. I started this last year and filled it about halfway so I predict it will last me until the end of 2026. I keep track of Book Bingo, series tracker, my 'want to read' list, and a running tally of the books I've read. I also make decorative spreads for each book including a book data sheet that I created and the book cover.
There you have it!

Hiding from stellar radiation behind an asteroid
10 Mar 2026 22:52Okay, I thought I knew science, but after several days of researching this, all I've got is indecision and a headache.
Original fiction, unspecified not-too-far-future time.
My character is the pilot of a small cargo ship in the asteroid belt. (No FTL, no artificial gravity.) Said ship has sufficient radiation shielding to be safe under normal conditions. My idea is that there's an unusually strong solar event (solar flare? coronal mass ejection?), and he has to survive by positioning his ship on the shadowed side of an asteroid (rocks are good shielding), and use his excellent piloting skills to stay there until the storm passes.
1. Does this, theoretically, actually work?
2. I'd like the solar event to be a Coronal Mass Ejection, because some CMEs move relatively slowly, and that gives my character time to make a narratively interesting choice. But is it the CME itself that's hazardous to human life, or a sort of "bow wave" of radiation that precedes it? And if the latter, is that radiation moving at the speed of the CME, or the speed of light? (I keep thinking I have a grasp on this, and then the next source I read contradicts it.)
Guidance appreciated, fellow space enthusiasts!

10 Mar 2026 07:36The intimacy of cleaning your partner's weapon after a fight ;D Not a euphemism lol. Though it might as well be foreplay XD

Summary: Fujimaru watches as Ren cleans his gloves after a fight.

Let's Go Karaoke Live Action
9 Mar 2026 16:09For my Karaoke Iko people out there, the Let's Go Karaoke movie live-action is available on the Japanese Film Festival website until June 3rd (JST)! Hopefully for your region, too.
If you're not familiar, I can also warmly recommend the 5 episode anime that's on Crunchyroll, if you have access.
I haven't read the manga or its sequel yet but I'm sure they're great fun too ;)

It's been super interesting to watch the movie after the anime and see the tweaks in the adaptation!! I think it all worked really well and I enjoyed it a lot. If you've also watched both (or any!!!!) you should talk to me actually :D
